Seeing the world through someone else’s eyes isn’t always easy. It is always very revealing though.
Some of you may remember the phenomenon of Gary Larson, the cartoonist. During the 80s and 90s there was rarely a year when I didn’t have a Larson calendar on my desk for a daily ‘laugh out loud’ moment. His cartoons perpetually offer a different perspective on every-day situations.
I can’t help but notice it was Valentine’s Day yesterday. It’s an annual occurrence which really divides opinion, fuelling both joy and sadness in equal measure. But let’s make Valentine’s Day inclusive and more broadly about sharing your life with a companion: it could be a partner; it could be a great friend; it could be a trusted confidente. Probably all of the above.
My Note from the Universe offers one way of looking at things: “Sometimes, Meriel, finally seeing things from someone else’s perspective can totally change your life. Which, sometimes, explains exactly why they’re there. Spooké, The Universe.”
When you notice you are stuck somewhere, or in a hole, finding someone who can offer you a fresh perspective will often illuminate the way forward for you.
Here’s Larson’s take on a famous fictional meeting. Happy Valentines 🙂
