I follow various blogs and tweeters, folk who inspire me. One of my favourites is Mike Dooley, who writes as The Universe. I receive regular insights from his posts, and here’s one which landed in my inbox not long ago:

“A little known secret concerning life in the jungles of time and space, Meriel, is that however far you reach, you will go farther. However great your dreams, they will be grander. And however much you love, you will be loved much more. We call it the Law of Increasing Returns. Love you much more, The Universe.”

In my last post, I told the story of my first video, and reaching outside of my comfort zone. What a satisfying experience that was and it brought me some terrific feedback which has inspired me to repeat the experience. And my regular readers will already know what a fan of dreaming big I am 🙂 So let’s talk about love, in February, the month which focuses our attention on how much (or how little) we have in our lives.

Love’s a complex feeling isn’t it? I don’t know about you, but I can experience a warm feeling, perhaps a feeling of love, towards someone one minute, and it’s gone the next. Usually it’s because I realise there’s something about that person that I don’t like very much, which challenges my love for them. So I tell myself that I don’t actually care about that person at all. Until something happens. Maybe it’s just a thought of what my world would be like without them in it, or they are physically or emotionally hurt somehow, and my own response to that tells me I’m more emotionally invested in them than I realised. It’s a see-saw.

But what if we could choose to make it constant? To make that love unconditional? And where better to start than with ourselves. When was the last time you said to yourself ‘I wish I hadn’t done that’ and then beat yourself up about it? Not long ago, right? There’s a little thing called Positive Intention. Ask yourself right now, what was my positive intention in doing that? And notice the part of you which answers that question. Somewhere, a part of you meant well, not to harm.

So what would it take for you to love yourself a little more than you did yesterday? I wonder how much love you will notice the universe sends you in return 🙂
