How many times have you been asked to explain the difference between Leadership and Management? My own view is probably best defined by the response of the people you are leading or managing.
If they have to follow you, then you are managing. If they want or choose to follow you, then you are leading. Imagine the difference as a leader if your team chooses to follow you, believes in you, understands you and your goal, and is willing to share your journey towards it. Wow! How fabulous would work be if your team was like that? Perhaps you wouldn’t need to manage them – imagine how great that feels?
So, why would your team choose to follow you? I wonder if you’ll answer the question this week or next week and begin your journey towards leadership.
