It’s my birthday today, woohoo!
Ode to Autumn by John Keats is one of my favourite poems. For me, it is incredibly evocative of the time of year. I have recently been scouring the hedgerows in the village for brambles (wild blackberries) so I can make epic quanitities of Bramble Jam for friends and family to enjoy for the next year. Being able to take something from nature, preseve it, and enjoy it in the future gives me immense pleasure. It’s almost spiritual.
It’s also the time of year for harvest, and perhaps reflecting on all things plentiful or abundant. Appreciative.
How much time to you spend appreciating what you’ve got versus moaning about what you haven’t got?
Have you noticed what happens when you dwell on the negative? What happens to your mood? How helpful is it for you to be in that emotional space?
When was the last time you took a step back and surveyed the totality of your life, and all the wonderful people and things that are in it, all the ways in which you are fabulous and unique? Appreciating yourself and what you’ve got really sets up your positive frame of mind and you’ll be amazed at the fantastic things that happen to you as a result.
